Interview with Scottish
Researcher Malcolm Robinson
Paola Harris
September 24,2007 in Ireland
PH: You are the representative for Scotland and Ufology? I heard that you did quite a few conferences.
Malcom R: I started up Strange Phenomena Investigations in 1979 to investigate claims pertaining to ghosts, poltergeists, and UFOs. I must put my hand on my heart and say initially I was very sceptical. I started out to disprove these subjects because I honestly felt there was no validity to the claims of ghosts and poltergeists. But I can say to you that after many years of research, I firmly believe that there is some substance to this. There’s no smoke without fire, and clearly there was something substantial, something very real occurring in the skies over the United Kingdom and overseas. Absolutely.
PH: You started in 1979?
MR: 1979 was the year when I officially started. I’ve always been interested in strange phenomena, ever since I was a young boy.
PH: What was the regular job you were doing?
MR: I was working in the glass manufacturing industry in Scotland, purchasing and manufacturing) whiskey bottles. That was my day-to-day job. But the fascination for the paranormal and the unknown in general is something I was always drawn to. I wanted to know more.
PH: When you started doing this work, were you alone, or did you have people you worked with?
MR: I started off alone. I must admit, in 1979 there were not too many people involved in the study of UFOs in Scotland. It was through myself introducing the public to the reality of the phenomenon, that we were dealing with something real, that more people were brought in to activate the group.
PH: What did you call the group?
MR: Strange Phenomena Investigations.
PH: Did you use initials, or use that full name for the organization?
MR: It’s an umbrella term, really, that covers a lot of paranormal events. We investigate the Loch Ness Monster. Being Scottish, I’ve travelled to Loch Ness, I’ve interviewed many people along the shores of Loch Ness, and the main basis of my research is to find out for sure if there’s a reality to the reports. The vast majority of UFO reports, as high as 95%, have natural, identifiable solutions. We can confirm that. There’s only five percent that we cannot identify. Of that five percent, three percent could be our own Black Budget technology. The Stealth aircraft was flying in America ten years before the American military machine put their hands up and said that. But left with two percent, one percent could be unusual and as yet undiscovered atmospheric phenomena which we currently don’t know about or understand. That leaves us with one percent. One percent cannot be explained and it is that one percent that seems to me to be extraterrestrial. Absolutely.
PH: Is there a connection between the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and all these extra-dimensional beings? Have UFOs ever been seen coming out of Loch Ness?
MR: UFOs have been seen coming out of many oceans on this planet. We know more about the surface of the moon than about the oceans on this planet. We know hardly anything about the oceanography of this planet. There are people who say that if aliens are here, perhaps they have bases under the oceans. Maybe it makes sense. There have been lots of UFO sightings above Loch Ness. I think that whether there’s any connection there, is debatable. I really don’t know.
PH: Were you ever a consultant for movies, or for people who wanted to know about Loch Ness?
MR: I was going to work with Stephen Spielberg a few years ago. He showed some interest in me proving the existence of the Loch Ness Monster because I had devised a chart a mechanism whereby we could conclusively prove that there was something in Loch Ness. The way that operated was there was like a box and ring effect, with these ropes – I mean, it’s hard for your listeners to understand this, but if you can imagine a boxing ring, and on these rings you see spherical balls, and all these balls are spiked with radio biopsy darts. And then this boxing ring, which would be secreted on the floor of Loch Ness, would have In the middle of it, a device which would continually be pouring out a fresh food substance that hopefully would attract any creature that may be down there to come towards that. As it came nearer, as it pushed the rope circle of this boxing ring trap, there’s like a grenade of radio biopsy darts, and bang bang bang, these would go into the animal. It would neutralize Nessie, not kill it, but neutralize it so it would sink to the bottom and then divers could go down and trace it. Stephen Spielberg was very interested in putting up the money to help me. He contacted me to do this, but at that time he was doing Jurassic Park and so sadly, it fell through. I still believe to this day that that’s a viable proposition to prove Nessie.
PH: I’ve never heard of that before, that’s fascinating. Our readers will love to hear that. So as far as you know, you are the person who does the most UFO research in Scotland, and Scotland is interested in this. Do you have newspaper reports? Is the media buying into this, or is there a ridicule factor attached to the UFO phenomenon in Scotland?
MR: There’s always a ridicule factor associated with the Ufology in any country, because a lot of people are reluctant to say what they’ve seen in the sky. But as far as Scotland goes, there’s a little town called Bonnybridge in central Scotland, near Glasgow, that is what we know in Ufology as a hot spot or a window area. It’s like Gulf Breeze and Pensacola, it sees a lot of UFO activity. The objects seen in Bonnybridge defy explanation. They’re so close you can throw a stone at them. We have invited the British government to be actively involved in this, and we have asked the government of the United Kingdom to assist our society to come to terms with what is going on. Sadly, the explanation that we got from 10 Downing Street was – and this is what they said – “As these objects do not constitute a threat to the defence of the United Kingdom, we will not seek to open up a government inquiry.” Now I’m very very annoyed at that, Paola, because these objects are really close, and they’re not aircraft and not helicopters.
I started off sceptical about this, but I honestly believe now that humankind is interacting with some form of non-human intelligence that perhaps has always been here. God, allegedly, made man in his own image. So whose image are these small grey guys? Do we have one God, Paola, or do we have a number of gods? Did God create man in his own image, or did he create Greys as well? You and I know that we are living in a universe which is infinite. There are millions and millions of stars, and millions and millions of possibilities of extraterrestrial life there. And they may not even be extraterrestrial. My belief in 2007 is that we are dealing on a dimensional level.
PH: Do you think that Bonnybridge is a dimensional gate or portal?
MR: I do. Bonnybridge is a gate of sorts, simply because so many sightings have taken place there.
PH: Do you have any photographs or anything from that area?
MR: Absolutely. We have photographs, videotapes…
PH: What would you like us in the UFO community to know about Scottish Ufology?
MR: I think your readers should be aware that Scotland as a country has been touched by the UFO presence. It doesn’t stand alone. Scotland has seen its fair share of close proximity sightings. Two classic cases in Scotland concerned, first of all, a forestry worker, a chap called Robert Taylor. In November 1979, he was in a forest and came upon a clearing in the woods, and he saw a massive dome-shaped object resting above the grass. Parts of it seemed to disappear and solidify, and it dematerialized and materialized and dematerialized. He was standing looking at this, and the dog he had with him was barking at it. Suddenly what resembled two Second World War sea mines, those mines that you got in the North Atlantic, the balls with spikes sticking out of them, dropped from beneath this object and started rolling across the grass. They stopped and started pulling on him, forcibly, and then he smelled a horrible smell all over the area. Then he heard a swishing sound like a cane swishing through the air, and then he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, the larger object was gone, the smaller objects were gone, there were all these marks in the grass and he had a nasty graze under his chin and a terrible headache. He went home and his wife thought he had been assaulted, Paola, because he was all muddied and messed about. She called the police. They came and listened to what he had to say, and fenced off the area and treated it as a crime scene. This is the only case in the United Kingdom when the British police treated a UFO case seriously. This was in Livingston, in central Scotland, in November of 1979. Our society is the only society in the world to commemorate this incident by the placement of a cairn of stones and a plaque.

Robert Taylor
The second case concerned two gentlemen who were driving in a car from Edinburgh the capital city of Scotland, to a little village called Tarbrax (in West Lothian Central Scotland) They had no interest in UFOs. As the road left Edinburgh they were surrounded by fields on either side. It was quite dark, and suddenly the passenger, Colin Wright, saw 40-50 yards ahead of them a black object hovering 20 feet above the surface of the road. Both gentlemen knew that this was not a helicopter or an aircraft of any description. Rather than stop the car and go back, they decided to continue on underneath this object. As the car went underneath this object, the object emitted a silver, shimmering curtain of mist that descended from the object and hit the car. As this mist enveloped the car, both men were enveloped in total and inky blackness. They couldn’t see their hand in front of their face, they couldn’t see anything. A couple of seconds later they regained their sight and drove on to their destination. When they arrived, one of the people they were going to see said, “Where have you been? You’re two and a half hours late!”

That night, and subsequent nights, they had visions of grey aliens and faces coming into their dreamscape. They saw scars on their bodies that previously were not there, Paola. They had scars on their arms and legs, one had a scar on his penis that had not been there before. They contacted our society, Strange Phenomena Investigations, and we subjected them to hypnotic regression. Under hypnosis, both men claimed that they were taken on board this object, stripped naked, and subjected to some sort of medical or clinical examination. They were none too happy about that.

PH: When did this occur?
MR: In 1992.
PH: So these are the two most important cases, and if you can provide me with any visual information, I’ll put it in the article.
