Interview with James Fox

Paola: Does it make you feel proud that your work, your masterpiece OUT OF THE BLUE is going in all Italian newsstands with Area 51 magazine? It is the only DVD we have distributed in Italy so far.
Fox: I am relieved at the new pieces ,the new rendition of the DVD is completed because it almost killed all of us. It almost devastated our relationships with my producers and co producers and the editor. We have new music composed, all new animations made, all new graphics, wide screen, We had to borrow lots of money. The new version is very different. The film seems to have snowballed this year. It is very different.
Paola: What made you redo it?
Fox: I was always disappointed with Governor’s Fife Symington?s Alien Stunt at the Press Conference and I just wanted to get to the bottom of it. I thought he probably received a phone call and told to shut the whole thing down and nine years after the fact and I got a letter from Universal MSBC Sci Fi Channel where we sold the film stated that they were not going to renew the broadcast option which I pretty much expected. Since this would be a good opportunity since we own the film again to revamp this movie, do some addition interviews and re-release it. It never really got good distribution and the distribution that it did get, we never got a penny from it. We ended up getting a very bad distributor.
Paola: That happens the first time around with a lot of people. You live and learn.
Fox: We did not have any copies left and there were copies being sold on E-bay for $239 and on Amazon. We were trying to hurry up and get the thing done in six months. There was definitely a market for it.

Paola: So how much did you add? It seems for you personally this interview with governor Symington was very important . So was it closure for something you always wanted to do originally.
Fox: I always wanted to get the interview but I figured I had no chance in hell to do it .-
Paola : Did you ask him why he pulled that stunt in your interview?
Fox: I did!
Paola: And what did he answer?
Fox: He said that there was mounting hysteria building and that he did not want to add to it. He said he was trying to add some levity.
Paola: But it was ridicule and disrespectful to the people who saw something real.
Fox: Once I had the confirmation that I was going to get the interview with him , I called Stacy Rhoads who is a former constituent as well as a witness to the event. I told her I was going to interview Governor Symington so is there anything she’d like to ask him? And she said “absolutely”. So I took out my pocket tape recorder and recorded a statement from her and while the cameras were rolling with him, I said I have a little something I’d like to share with you. I put him on the spot and I hit the play button on the pocket tape recorder and he started squirming a little. The whole thing is in the film. He did,. He opened up. He told us that not only would he launch an investigation as he said he would, but he himself was kind of shut down. He saw it too and he is a Captain in the Air Force and a pilot.
Paola: Was it a statement that Symington said in your film that came out in the Press?
Fox: Yes! I broke the story.
Paola: See how much good you do. It is amazing.
Fox: Well, it was a boon.
Paola: So where did you go with this edition? You said the format changed a lot. What parts are added?
Fox. The format changed: it is all widescreen now. Every single graphic in the entire piece is redone. There were 250 graphics. There are new animations. I could not get access to Colonel Hault, Pennington, Burroughs and Gordon Williams from the Bentwaters case England and this time around I got access.
Paola: You got access to all those people including Hault.
Fox : That is the first time that all three witnesses on the first night testified together. They had notebooks, the original log books which I photographed and documented and I did a three way conference call with my animator and we all had a computer and Pennington would send it out as a jpeg image and he would say a little rounded or a little taller so I got it right
Paola : So what you are telling me is that with modern technology and with Forensic drawing too that we are able to correctly recreate a real incident. You do not need a photograph if you have that kind of cooperation.
Fox: He said the drawings were the best anyone’s ever gotten it. That is what he told me.
Paola: So you have Bentwaters but did you add any new case to it.
Fox: Well we put the O’Hare case at the end. We talked about France releasing their UFO files. We put former White house chief of Staff, John Podesta’s statement at the end where he is calling for opening the books.
Paola Did you have to call up Peter Coyote again?
Fox: Yes! I did. He had to do some original work on it and Peter Coyote is friends with Spielberg so he sent him a copy. We are waiting to see if we get a quote. He has a major interest. He had Dr Hyneck as a consultant on Close Encounters of The Third Kind
Paola: I was friends with Allen Hyneck and worked with him for 6 years. There is a quote from Spielburg from the Actor’s Studio where he says he believes in aliens. Allen Hyneck was working with Jacques Valle. Did you contact Jacques Valle.
Fox: Yes. He has Offices on Market Street in San Francisco. Do you know San Francisco .?
Paola: Yes I know! What did he say.
Fox: He said he pulled out.
Paola: Sure .He hasn’t pulled out I think because I believe that only if you are “ not formal” about your interest and research are you fed real information. He knows a lot! I think in order to know the truth you must make a deal that you can’t be public about it. It is like “we will tell you what you need to know but you can’t tell the public about it.” Do you think we will have disclosure in our lifetime?
Fox: I think we are getting closer. My relationship with Fife Symington is good. He is a very well connected individual. He is friends with Clinton. He saved Clinton from drowning when Clinton was in college. He knows Bush Senior and Jr. I asked him that very question and he said that he would help me get access to these people at some point. So I think Out of the Blue is going to continually evolve. We will continually update it and we add to it and keep perfecting it as more witness come forward. I am friends with Bill Clinton and he will come forward and he will talk about his investigation which he launched. The timing is just NOT right.
Paola : Do you think Disclosure has to come from the governments and the United States Government in particular?
Fox: Obviously because disclosure is coming from everybody else at this point isn’t it? The United States should always be a role model and that’s why I am so upset about our not being the leaders in say, coal consumption, and environmental issues.
Paola : So how is your film being distributed?
Fox: For the time being, we are not going with any distributors. We are going to be the sole distributors of the film. You have to get it on our website ( www.out of the bluethemovie.com)
We are doing international sales. It is $24.95 for a duel disc set. We have 4 hours of programming. We have new out takes of CNN. Fox News and Fifty years of denial in there.

re-aired showing clips from Out of The Blue and with the testimony of Jesse Marcel Jr, Stanton Freidman , Fife Symington and James Fox, we seem to be getting closer to serious media attention on this important issue.
